Wow, this all seems rather inappropriate after such a tragedy. Are we all really so desensitized? Or is this the typical "rah rah" guns rule stuff that we always have to suffer through after mass murders like this?

Huh? I think it/pics/etc makes the pt that the DEAD + gun discussion was appropriate for a DEAD forum...?

Sorry, but this all seems weirdly light-hearted after such a tragedy. But the larger point is how disgusting it is that the pro-gun crowd always feels the need to rally after something like this happens. I still can't buy a joint, but this nut had no problem buying an assault weapon and thousands of rounds of ammo. Something's wrong there.

Oh yeah, couldn't agree more...if I come off as conflicted, just color me as unable to resist "disengaging" myself from the whole scene (I refuse to be caught up in hand wringing, unproductively at this distance, nor reactionary solution suggestions, ie, more guns). I voiced my thoughts on arming everyone--bad--but then transitioned into light and airy...sorry, my bad; it's what I do "here" as I don't think we can really do anything else right "here"...

@snow_and_rain: I totally agree with your comment.

It seems to be a cycle that just can't be broken.

I'm just glad that I live in a country where there are legal restrictions on weapons.
It's not perfect, but it is the right direction definitely.

Exactly.

Btw there was some incident where Bob was almost shot during a Fun With Guns sessions. He'd gone to sleep in a chicken shack or something and then people were taking pot shots at it.

Interesting how they had this fascination with cowboys and Indians at the same time as Vietnam -- and so did the hippie culture as a whole. I bet they heard more than once, "How could you do this when people are dying in Vietnam?" So let's see. People can watch the horrors of Vietnam on the tube, and then sing Little Sadie, and then go out and play cowboys and Indians, and then presumably talk about peace and love and changing the world ...
